Depending on the setting, yes. If View results summary is enabled, Google says a summary can show full-text responses or charts to anyone who can respond to the form.
A confirmation message is a separate setting. Access to a linked response spreadsheet is another permission check; do not treat a summary label or a thank-you message as a confidentiality guarantee.
This guide is based on Google’s current help pages, not on a test of a real form, account or setting. No recipient permissions were checked for it. Your own form’s settings and who can respond to it decide what people actually see.
What the summary can reveal
Google’s Forms help is direct about this setting: "After someone fills out your form, they get a link to the results. Response summaries show full text responses or charts for each question and are visible to anyone who can respond to the form."
Two points follow from that wording. First, a summary is not described as charts only; full-text responses are part of what it can show. Second, the audience Google names is anyone who can respond to the form. That is a different question from "everyone on the internet", and it depends on who your form is actually published and shared to.
Google lists the switch under the form’s Settings, next to "Presentation", as the step to turn on View results summary, and adds: "A summary of results is shared with respondents." This article does not say whether the setting is on in your form; check it there.
| Item | Information or audience | Separate check |
|---|---|---|
| Results summary | Full text or charts, for people who can respond | View results summary and who can respond |
| Confirmation message | Message shown after submitting | Separate from the results summary |
| Linked response Sheet | A separate file storing responses | That Sheet’s own sharing permissions |
Google describes the confirmation message on the same page: "You can customize the message people get after they submit the form." Editing that text is a wording change. It is listed as its own setting, apart from the results summary.

Check the Form and linked Sheet separately
If responses are stored in a spreadsheet, that spreadsheet has its own access list. Google’s help on response destinations says: "When you create a new response spreadsheet, form collaborators automatically get access to it."
That describes the moment the spreadsheet is created. What happens afterwards is different: "Further changes to the permissions of the form won’t synchronize automatically." And for changes: "To change or remove access, update permissions on both the form and the linked sheet separately."
In practice, a collaborator you later remove from the form may still have access to the Sheet, until the Sheet’s own permissions are updated. Removing form access is not, by itself, evidence that the Sheet changed too.

A blank worksheet before you share results
Fill in the last column yourself from your own form and Sheet. Until you have looked, the actual state is unknown. Do not paste real answers or respondent details into it.
- Respondent results summary. Intended audience: ________. Actual verified state: ________ (unknown until checked).
- Form collaborators. Intended audience: ________. Actual verified state: ________ (unknown until checked).
- Linked response Sheet. Intended audience: ________. Actual verified state: ________ (unknown until checked).
A hypothetical example: an organiser runs an event feedback form and wants attendees to see only a thank-you note. Line 1 is the one to check first, because a results summary can show full-text responses to people who can respond. Line 3 is checked on its own, because the Sheet’s access list does not follow later form changes. These are questions for the reader, not steps this guide has carried out.
Three questions about Google Forms results
Does a results summary mean charts only?
No. Google says response summaries "show full text responses or charts for each question."
Is the confirmation message the same as the results summary?
No. Google lists "Change confirmation message" and "Show a summary of responses" as separate settings, and the message is described as what people get after they submit.
Does removing someone from the form automatically remove them from the linked Sheet?
Do not assume so. Google says later form permission changes "won’t synchronize automatically" and that access should be updated on the form and the linked sheet separately.
Check the official guidance
Check the current View results summary setting and who can respond in Google’s Publish & share your form with responders before you share a form or its results.
