Checked October 2, 2026 against Roborock and eufy support pages and the Roborock UK Trust Center. We have not used or tested any robot vacuum for this guide; it is built only from those published pages. It is not a product ranking, and behaviour varies by model — confirm with the exact model’s manual and the seller.
"Works without Wi-Fi" on a product page can mean very different things. Some buyers only need the robot to clean with no network at all. Others want to control it from a phone without an internet connection. Others want no data to reach the manufacturer’s cloud. These are three separate requirements, and one line in a listing does not settle all three.
The three requirements
| Requirement | What it means | What the official pages say |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Offline cleaning | Cleaning with buttons or a remote, no network | Roborock and eufy both describe button-started cleaning; scheduling and suction selection (Roborock) and mapping (some eufy series) are described as needing Wi-Fi |
| 2. App control | Starting, scheduling, map editing from a phone | The pages we checked do not say whether the app works on a home network with no internet — ask the seller |
| 3. Cloud data | Whether maps and device status reach manufacturer servers | Roborock says it collects map data, device status and anonymized usage information, and that personal data is stored securely, "often locally"; separately, it says user data is processed and stored in data centers based on your registered region |
1. Offline cleaning: what works and what doesn’t
Roborock’s support FAQ ("Can robot cleaner work without Wi-Fi?", dated June 25, 2023 on the page) answers yes: the robot can carry out full-home cleanups, spot cleanups and return to the dock with the push of a button. The same answer says connecting to Wi-Fi enables advanced features including scheduled cleaning and suction power strength selection. The FAQ does not name a specific model.
eufy’s support page says that without a smartphone you can use the buttons on top of a RoboVac to start, pause and recharge it. It then splits by series:
- RoboVacs of the Bounce series all come with a remote, and eufy says a smartphone is not necessary for them, with or without a Wi-Fi connection.
- Smart Navigation and Laser Navigation series models do not come with a remote and are controlled by the buttons on the unit or a smartphone. eufy says their mapping functions and other advanced functions can only be used normally after the RoboVac is connected to Wi-Fi.
So on the two pages we checked, what works without Wi-Fi is button- or remote-started cleaning and docking; scheduling and suction selection (Roborock) and mapping (eufy Smart and Laser Navigation series) are described as Wi-Fi features.
2. App control: "offline app control" needs its own answer
eufy explains that the remote for Wi-Fi Bounce models has no screen because you can use full functions with your phone through the eufy Clean app once the RoboVac is connected to Wi-Fi. In other words, for Wi-Fi Bounce models, full app functionality is described with Wi-Fi as a precondition.
None of the Roborock or eufy pages we checked say whether the app can control the robot over a home network with the internet connection cut. There is no basis here to say it does or doesn’t. If this is your requirement, ask the seller or manufacturer with the exact model number.
3. Cloud data: "privacy by design" is not "no cloud"
The Roborock UK Trust Center (marked "Last updated: August 2026") says it addresses the privacy and security design of Roborock robotic vacuums, that actual practices may vary by model, and that you should refer to the product manual. According to that page:
- Roborock collects the data necessary to provide and improve the robot’s functionality, including map data, device status and anonymized usage information.
- Nothing is collected or uploaded without your explicit permission or as otherwise provided by laws, and you can update your settings anytime.
- Roborock operates independent data centers across Asia, Europe and North America, and user data is processed and stored in data centers based on your registered region.
- Most models process voice commands entirely offline; for select online models, encrypted voice data is sent to the cloud to recognize your intent.
- Obstacle photos are saved on the robot in an encrypted format; when you view one in the app, the cloud acts only as a temporary communication channel and does not store the image. "Not stored" and "never passes through the cloud" are different things.
- AI obstacle recognition computations are performed on-device with no data sent to the cloud. You can disable the "Hello Rocky" voice assistant and AI obstacle recognition features, after which the camera and microphone remain inactive.
- To see data collection details, open the Roborock app, select your device, go to Settings and select Product Information.
A description of how data is protected is different from a guarantee that no data leaves the home. If "zero cloud data" is your requirement, it needs a direct answer for the exact model.
Seller questions (send with the exact model number)
- Can the robot be set up for the first time and run a full clean without ever connecting to Wi-Fi?
- Which features do not work without Wi-Fi (scheduling, suction selection, maps and zone cleaning)?
- Does it come with a remote, or only buttons on the unit plus the app?
- Can the app control it over the local network with no internet connection?
- When using the app, is map and device-status data stored off the device? If so, in which region, and can uploading be turned off?
- Does the country of sale and model number (SKU) match the manual?
Checklist before you buy
- Which of the three requirements do you actually need: offline cleaning, app control, or no cloud data?
- The exact model manual’s list of functions available without Wi-Fi
- If you need maps or schedules, whether they require a Wi-Fi connection
- The date and model number on any seller answer
- Return terms and country of sale
Features and policies can change, so re-check the model manual and the manufacturer’s pages on the day you buy.
