Checked October 2, 2026 against Amazon’s own event pages. We have not tracked price history for any product and recommend no specific deal; the worksheet below is ours.
Short answer
Prime Big Deal Days 2026 runs October 6–7 in the U.S. — a 48-hour event that starts at 12:01 a.m. PDT on October 6 — and the deals are for Prime members only. If you would join Prime just for this event, your real saving is not the discount on the tag. It is what your planned cart would cost without the event deal — at another store or at Amazon’s regular price — minus what it costs at checkout during the event, minus any membership fee you would not otherwise pay.
The net-savings worksheet
Fill one row per item, using the price you would actually pay — shipping and tax included — not the crossed-out list price.
| Item | Would you buy it this month anyway? | Best price without the event deal (any store, including Amazon’s regular price; with shipping + tax) | Event checkout price (with shipping + tax) | Counts toward savings |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | yes / no | $ | $ | only if "yes": without-deal price − event price (if negative, enter 0 — buy it elsewhere) |
| 2 | yes / no | $ | $ | |
| 3 | yes / no | $ | $ |
Then:
Net saving = (sum of the "counts" column) − (membership cost you add only for this event)
What to put in the membership line
Amazon’s own pages give these U.S. options (check the exact terms at sign-up; eligibility decides what you are offered):
| Your situation | Membership cost to subtract |
|---|---|
| Already a Prime member and would stay anyway | $0 |
| Eligible for the free 30-day trial | $0 for the trial period — but note when the trial ends and what Prime costs after it before you start |
| Not eligible for a trial (for example, you have used it) | $14.99 for one month, or $139 for a year |
| Prime for Young Adults (college and other higher-education students, and 18–24-year-olds) | $0 during the six-month free trial if you are eligible; after that, $7.49 a month or $69 a year |
| Prime Access (qualifying government-assistance recipients and income-verified customers) | 30 days free, then $6.99 a month |
If you are joining only for these two days, enter one month at $14.99 — not the $139 annual fee. If you would pay for a year of Prime anyway for its other benefits, the event is not what you are paying for: enter $0, as an existing member would.
Worked example (illustrative numbers, not a real deal)
You planned to buy three things this month. The best prices you could get without the event — at other stores or at Amazon’s regular price, delivered — add up to $180; the same three at event checkout add up to $150. That is $30 of cart savings. You have already used your free trial, so you would pay $14.99 for one month, and you cancel before a second month is charged.
Net saving: $30 − $14.99 = $15.01.
If you also add a $40 item you had not planned to buy because it is marked down to $28, that $12 "saving" does not count — you spent $28 you would not have spent.
Four checks before you join
- Compare against the price you would really pay elsewhere, not the strikethrough price on the deal card.
- Compare at checkout, where shipping and tax are added — a lower item price can still be a higher total.
- Write down the date the trial ends and what Prime will cost after it if you start one; the trial is offered to "select, eligible customers," not to everyone.
- Outside the U.S., Amazon says Prime members in 22 countries can shop the event this season and that dates may vary by country — check your local Amazon site; membership prices and trial terms differ by country too.
What we did not do
We did not verify price history, so we cannot say whether any specific deal is a low. Amazon says most of its "Today’s Big Deals" are at Amazon’s lowest prices of the year so far — lowest on Amazon, not compared with other stores, and Amazon’s claim rather than our finding.
