How to Cancel Google Home Premium Safely: Save Your Clips, Then Find Who Bills You

Scope: standalone Google Home Premium subscriptions, based on Google’s public help pages and the US Google Store FAQ, checked October 5, 2026 (15:56 KST). We read Google’s published pages only. We haven’t cancelled a plan, opened anyone’s account or tested the steps below. Google One or AI plan bundles, refunds, prices and partner contract terms aren’t covered.

Cancelling Google Home Premium? Save the clips you need, then check who bills you. That order matters. Google Store Help warns: "When you cancel a Google Home Premium subscription, you’ll lose your sound detection clips and any video you haven’t saved." After that, cancellation runs through whoever sold you the plan, which may not be the Google Home app. Google’s help page splits it three ways: the Google Store, the Google Play Store, or a partner. This guide covers standalone plans only. If your plan is part of a bundle, or came with partner terms, check those exact terms first.

Step 1: Find your billing seller

Fill in the last column privately from your own receipt, order confirmation or bank statement. Don’t post that receipt or a screenshot with payment details anywhere to ask for help.

Billing sellerOfficial place to cancelWhat to check before and afterYour note
Google StoreGoogle Store Subscription management page (Google Store Help)Signed in to the account you used for the purchase; the right subscription selected; the charges summary; the final confirmation
Nest StoreNest Subscription management page, signed in with your Nest account (Google Store Help)The right home selected if you have more than one; the final confirmation

A partner (third-party service provider)The partner that bills you. Google says to "ask them to cancel it."The partner’s own cancellation terms and confirmation. Don’t assume Google Store terms apply.
Not sureYour own invoice or order confirmationWhich company charged you, and which account it’s linked to

Google’s help page puts it this way: you "can manage your subscriptions billed through the Google Store or a third-party service provider," and on Android you can manage plans "purchased from the Play Store."

Step 2: Save the clips you want to keep

Do this before you press any cancel button. Google Store Help says: "Before you cancel, learn how to save important clips." The US Google Store FAQ repeats it: "Be sure to save any important video or sound detection clips before you cancel your subscription."

For the steps, use the save-clips link on Google Store Help. We’re not listing export buttons here because we haven’t observed them in a live account. Don’t count on getting unsaved recordings back later, and don’t assume they’re kept for a set number of days. The help pages we checked don’t promise either.

Step 3: Cancel through your seller

If you bought from the Google Store

Google Store Help publishes these steps:

  1. Go to the Google Store Subscription management page.
  2. Sign in with Google.
  3. On the "Subscriptions" page, select the subscription you’d like to cancel.
  4. On the right, select More, then Cancel subscription. Google notes: "A summary of charges will be provided."
  5. "To complete the cancellation, select Cancel subscription."

These steps come from Google’s documentation, not from an account we looked at. The same Google Store Help page also has separate steps for plans bought through the Nest Store.

If you bought through Google Play

Google’s Home help says to cancel or manage it "by referring to Cancel, pause, or change a subscription on Google Play and tapping the self-help flow." Follow Google Play’s own published steps. We aren’t showing device screenshots because we haven’t seen that flow on a device.

If a partner bills you

Google’s instruction is short: "If you bought your plan from one of our partners, ask them to cancel it." Contact the company that actually charges you. Its terms, timing and confirmation process are its own. The Google Store FAQ below doesn’t automatically cover them.

What happens after you cancel

Keep three things apart: the cancellation itself, when service ends, and when you lose access.

QuestionWhat Google’s pages sayWhat you still need to confirm
When does service end?US Google Store FAQ: "If you cancel Google Home Premium, you’ll have service until the billing cycle ends."That FAQ is for the US Google Store. For Play or partner plans, check that seller’s terms. Check the actual end date in your own confirmation.
What happens to video history?Google Home help: "If your subscription lapses, you’ll lose access to your video history and face library."This is about losing access. It doesn’t say everything is erased at one moment. Save what you need first.
What about unsaved clips?Google Store Help: you’ll "lose your sound detection clips and any video you haven’t saved."Which clips you’ve actually saved
Will I get a refund? Not covered by the pages used hereYour seller’s own refund terms for your region. We don’t claim any refund or prorated credit.

Plans renew automatically. Google’s help says subscriptions "are automatically billed to your saved payment method every month or year." Cancelling with one seller doesn’t confirm that any other Google Home Premium subscription you pay for has stopped. Check each one.

FAQ

I can’t find my plan on the Google Store Subscriptions page. What now? Check who bills you (Step 1). The plan may have come from Google Play, the Nest Store or a partner, or be under a different account. Check this in your own account and invoice. See Manage your Google Home Premium subscription.

Does cancelling guarantee a refund? We haven’t verified that. The pages used here don’t promise a refund on cancellation. Google Store Help says to "be sure to check the Google Home Premium cancellation policies" before you cancel. If someone else bills you, check that seller’s terms.

Does this cover Google One or AI plans that include Home Premium? No. This guide covers standalone Google Home Premium subscriptions only. Bundle terms and recent bundle changes aren’t covered.

Do I keep service until the end of the billing period? For the US Google Store, the FAQ says you’ll "have service until the billing cycle ends." For other sellers, check their terms. See the US Google Home Premium page.
